Overview

Use the Gift Tax Credits module to track a client's use of gift tax credits.

Create a Gift Tax Credit record

  1. Access the Gift Tax Credits Create form using one of the following:
    • Click Estate Planning > Gift Tax Credits > Create Gift Tax Credits from the Navigation menu.
    • Click Create New on the Gift Tax Credits List View.
  2. Complete the Gift Tax Credits Create Form. See Field Descriptions for information about each field. Fields that have an asterisk (*) are required; you must enter data in the field to save the record.
  3. Click Save to save the record and view its detail page, or click Cancel .

Display a list of Gift Tax Credits

Click Estate Planning Gift Tax Credits > View Gift Tax Credits.
The Gift Tax Credits List View displays.

Display the details for a Gift Tax Credit

Click the Gift Tax Credit name in the Gift Tax Credits List View.
The Gift Tax Credits Detail View displays.

Edit Gift Tax Credit record information

  1. Access the Gift Tax Credits Edit View by doing one of the following:
    • Click Edit in the Gift Tax Credits Detail View.
    • Click the edit icon (pencil) associated with the Gift Tax Credit record in the Gift Tax Credits List View.
  2. Update the gift tax credit information. See Field Descriptions for information about each field.
  3. Click Save to update the record.

Suppress one or more Gift Tax Credit records

  1. In the Gift Tax Credits List View, click the Selection box associated with the record(s) you want to suppress.
  2. Click Suppress.
    A confirmation box displays.
  3. Click OK.
    The records are suppressed.

You can also suppress a single Gift Tax Credit record by clicking Suppress on the Gift Tax Credits Detail View.

Update information related to multiple Gift Tax Credits

  1. In the Gift Tax Credits List View, click the Selection box associated with the records you want to update.
  2. Click Mass Update in the Actions dropdown.

Duplicate Gift Tax Credit information

Click Duplicate in the Gift Tax Credits Detail View. Duplication is a convenient way of creating a similar Gift Tax Credit record. You can change and save the information in the duplicate record to create a new record.

Find and merge duplicate records

Follow the instructions in Merging duplicate records.

Export records

  1. In the Gift Tax Credits List View, click the Selection box associated with the records you want to export.
  2. Click Export in the dropdown and follow the instructions in Exporting data.

Field Descriptions

Fields that have an asterisk (*) are required; you must enter data in the field to save the record.

Gift Tax Credit*

Describe the Gift Tax Credit transaction. This is a mandatory field.

Contact

Enter the contact who used the gift tax credit.

Client

Click the Client on the Clients Popup List View (displays upon clicking the Selection arrow) or on the list of Clients matching the character(s) you enter.

Credit Amount*

Enter the cash value of the gift tax credit. This is a mandatory field.

Date Credit Used*

Click on the Date Selector the date of the gift tax credit transaction. This is a mandatory field.

Description

Enter additional details about the gift tax credit transaction.
