"Microsoft Access stopped working" on computer with Office 2013/16

Problem: After installing the latest ProTracker Advantage update or installing office 365 with office 2013 or 2016, you get a message that "Microsoft Access stopped working" when trying to open ProTracker Advantage or the display looks funky.


Solution: Install Microsoft access 2003 runtime and set the path in the desktop shortcut as described below.

1. Download / Save / Extract / Run the  2003 runtime:   http://www.protracker.com/Download/Tools/AccessRuntime2003.zip

2. Go to the ProTracker Advantage Desktop shortcut. Right-click > Properties > Shortcut tab. In the target, replace all the text with one of the strings (including quotes) listed below.


64 bit computers

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office11\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\Program Files (x86)\ProTracker Advantage\Advantage.mde"


32 bit computers

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\Program Files\ProTracker Advantage\Advantage.mde"



 Note; It may be necessary to download and install this 2003 service pack: http://protracker.com/download/tools/Office2003SP3.exe
